External data upload

Sending files to the servers

Files with non-personally identifiable information

To place information on the server that do not contain microdata, e.g., syntax/code or documentation, please send the following to a CIRRAU Datamanager by e-mail and the request will be forwarded to Statistics Denmark:

  • The file or the path to the file if located in another DST project.
  • Information about server and project number.
  • Complete path to where to place the file (typically in the Workdata folder).
  • Write the following statement: “The file does not contain any personal identifiable information”.

Please, send only syntax or documentation when it is necessary and too large to practically type in manually.

.

Files with microdata (External files to the project)

Always contact a CIRRAU Datamanager before sending files to Statistics Denmark.

Before sending the files, the project controller needs to be informed and have approved that microdata will be send to the project at Statistics Denmark.

If, at all, possible, data should be SAS files and the number of files should be kept to a minimum, this will speed up handling time and lower costs.

There are two ways of sending data containing microdata to Statistics Denmark, e.g., data from sources outside CIRRAU (external data).

1: Up-load files via Statistics Denmark FSE-UPLOAD.

This method is preferred.

All users have access to this service in f5 dynamic webtop with project login. Guidelines for FSE-upload can be found here

Please include the following information in the comment box in FSE-UPLOAD:

  • Short description of the data and where in the project description the data is approved.
  • Name(s) of variable(s) to be deidentified.
  • Specify if the data should be delimited to a smaller study population after upload. The study population is defined in the project description.

When data is uploaded, please send an email with complete variable list to a CIRRAU Datamanager together with the following information:

  • Upload date
  • Text from the comment box

CIRRAU Datamanager will forward the variable list to Statistics Denmark and will act as a contact person to Statistics Denmark in the process of data upload.

2: External data sent by mail.

Use recommended mail to send encrypted files to Statistics Denmark on for example a USB-stick. (Use only this method if size of the file > 2 GB).

For sending external data by mail please use the following instructions:
